Premier League heavyweights Chelsea are eyeing a transfer swoop for Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang according to popular media outlet ESPN. It was stated that Aubameyang is an attacking target for Chelsea who arein the transfer market to boost their squad upfront.
In the current transfer window, Chelsea have paid attention to their defence with the arrival of Marc Cucurella and KalidouKoulibaly, while they are also keen on signing Frenchman Wesley Fofana from fellow Premier League side Leicester City. The Blues paid around £34m to sign the experienced Koulibaly from Italian Serie A outfit Napoli, while Cucurella has joined them for more than £60m. Spanish player Cucurella joined Chelsea from Premier League rivals Brighton and Hove Albion.
On Fofana, Chelsea have made some bids for the Leicester City defender in the quest to strong then their defence. However, the Foxes are not ready to sell the young defender. The Blues’ latest bid is around £70m.
In attack, Chelsea have strengthened with the addition of England international Raheem Sterling. They paid an initial fee of £47.5m plus add-ons to sign Sterling from Premier League champions Manchester City. They are now keen to strengthen their attack further with Gabonese striker Aubameyang who worked with Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel at Borussia Dortmund in the German Bundesliga years ago.
