Barcelona Forward Lionel Messi is the player with the highest rating in popular football game FIFA for the new season. The rating which was unveiled in September 9 saw the player rated 94 ahead of longtime rival Cristiano Ronaldo.
His ability to perform at the highest level weekly has seen him eclipse several records during his time at the club. He currently holds Barcelona all-time record and Argentine all-time scoring record. The 32-year-old is also all time leading scorer in the Spanish League.
Meanwhile Cristiano Ronaldo came a close second with a rating of 93 following his move to Italian Giants Juventus last season. The Portuguese superstar led his club in goals and also scored a memorable hat-trick in the Champions League round of 16 against Atletico Madrid.
He was also part of the Portugal team that won the UEFA Nations League and he scored a hattrick against Switzerland in the Semi-Finals.
Brazilian maestro Neymar was rated third highest in the rankings with a rating of 92. The Brazilian has not enjoyed the best of years but still remains one of the best players on his day. He was one of the best players in Europe before fracturing his metatarsal in December.
His position as third has caused a debate between fans regarding whether he or Eden Hazard deserves the position. Hazard was the best of the rest with the former Chelsea star making a big-money move to Real Madrid in the summer.
With a new season up and running the battle will be fine on the pitch and it will be interesting to see who gets the top gong next season.
